Diego Simeone expects 50 50 Champions League final
– Atletico Madrid coach Diego Simeone expects the 2016 Champions League final to be a 50-50 affair
– Atletico defeated tournament favorites Barcelona and Bayern Munich in the quarter and semi-final
– Rojiblancos played city rivals Real Madrid in the 2o14 Champions League final which they lost 4 – 1
Atletico Madrid head coach Diego Simeone expects the upcoming 2016 Champions League final against city rivals Real Madrid to be “50-50″.
Simeone’s charges defeated Barcelona and Bayern Munich in the quarter and semi-finals, hence setting up a repeat of the 2014 final which his side lost 4 – 1 after extra time.
In 10 competitive matches since that clash in Lisbon, Atletico have lost just once to their fierce rivals – a 1-0 Champions League reverse last April that sent Real Madrid in the semi-finals.
Atletico triumphed 1-0 the last time the sides met at Santiago Bernabeu in February.
Despite their impressive record against Atletico Madrid, Simeone expects the final to be a balanced tie.
Simeone told Radio La Red:“The final against Real Madrid is 50-50, we both know each other well. The aim is winning the final.
”The former Cagliari and Rivers Plate boss says he would love to one day coach Lazio and Inter Milan who he represented in his playing career and Argentina who he also appeared 106 times for.
“I’d like to be coach of Inter, Lazio and Argentina,” he said.“But I’m not desperate. It’s going to happen.”

Sadio Mane opened the scoring just 15 minutes into the encounter when he slammed into the bottom corner from a neat pass from Adam Lallana.
Jordan Henderson made it 2-0 early in the second half, tucking a low pass from Divock Origi in off of Javier Mascherano. Almost immediately afterwards, Origi added a third, sliding it through the legs of Claudio Bravo.
And Marko Grujic added to the misery for Barcelona, scoring his side’s fourth in the dying minute.
